Cosel has announced a series of high isolation 6W dc-dc converters for medical, industrial and ICT applications.
Packaged in a single-in-line type 8, the MH6 series is reinforced to 3kVac and 4.2kVdc isolation and complies with medical 2MOOP (means of operator protection, 250Vac working IEC60601-1 3rd edition).
Measuring 26 x 12 x 9.5mm, the series offers three input ranges: 4.5 – 18V, 9 – 36V or 18 – 76V, and many output options: single 3.3, 5, 9, 12 or 15V (MHFS6), or dual +/-12V or +/-15V (MHFW6).
With the duals the output can be used in series to deliver 24V or 30V. Single output versions have an output voltage trim pin.
Industrial use is also foreseen: “With long expertise in designing power supplies for equipment using IGBT drivers, Cosel designers applied high-power high-isolation best practice to the MH6 series to reduce isolation fatigue resulting from differential high voltage happening in motor control or IGBT driver,” according to the company. “Cosel conducted tests and verifications and provides, in the application manual, life expectancy curves helping system’s architects developing gate controllers for industrial equipment to apply proper design rules and cautions.”
Insulation capacitance is limited to 20pFmax to reduce electrical noise transfer.
Over-current protection with automatic recovery is built-in, and there is a remote control pin to turn the output on and off.
Operation is over -40 to +85°C ambient – derating may apply – there is a specified measuring point that must not exceed 105°C.
Moulded epoxy construction is used to handle vibration – the parts are qualified to cope with 10g acceleration across 10 – 55Hz and 11ms 50g shock.
Approvals include: UL62368-1, EN62368-1, c-UL (equivalent to CAN/CSA-C22.2 No.62368-1), ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1, EN60601-1 3rd, c-UL (equivalent to CAN/CSA-C22.2 No.60601-1).
The converters are made in Japan and come with a five year warranty.
